Renault Scenic MPV (2016-2019) - Practicality & boot space
The Renault Scenic offers the practicality family MPV buyers look for
Every generation of Renault Scenic has become something of a family favourite and there’d be considerable outcry if the latest generation didn’t continue in the same vein. We reckon few will be disappointed by the versatility on offer.
Renault Scenic interior space & storage
There’s more overall interior space in the latest Scenic than its predecessor, with plenty of room for those in the front. However, there seems to be a little less headroom or legroom for those over six feet tall than in a Citroen C4 Picasso.
The rear seats slide forward and back, so you can choose between optimising space for passengers or luggage, but it’s a shame they only split 60:40. Interior practicality is otherwise very good. There’s a large centre console with sliding access concealing a 13-litre illuminated storage compartment.
This can be slid back so rear-seat passengers enjoy the same provision, while they’re also able to access USB ports. It can also be positioned in such a way that it acts as a partition between the front and rear-seat passengers. There are also four under-floor storage compartments that boost space for oddments to 63 litres in total.
The continued versatility doesn’t cease when you get to the back of the car. With the rear seats in place, there’s 572 litres of luggage space – more than the 530 litres of the Citroen C4 Picasso. If you slide the rear seats forward, this is expanded to 720 litres, and we were impressed by the clever one-touch operation for the rear-seat folding mechanism.
