Vauxhall Corsa GSe to join the growing hot EV market
Vauxhall’s Corsa GSe electric hot hatch will take on the MG4 XPower and Abarth 500e – here’s how it might look
- Expected to have the same 154bhp Corsa Electric motor
- Handling tweaked to make Corsa GSe more fun to drive
- Sportier styling
The Vauxhall Corsa is one of the best-selling cars of 2023, but that’s not stopping the British brand from expanding the lineup even further. The manufacturer is set to release a hot Vauxhall Corsa GSe model bringing added power and spice to the supermini in a similar vein to the VXR models of old.
This time, though, it’s going to be fully electric, which will put it up against a growing list of EV hot hatch rivals such as the Abarth 500e, Cupra Born and MG4 XPower, as well as the upcoming electric MINI Cooper.

What will the Vauxhall Corsa GSe look like?
Our exclusive images show what the new Vauxhall Corsa GSe could look like. Vauxhall is expected to add a sporty edge to the Vauxhall Corsa GSe, with large, unique alloy wheels, a slightly more aggressive body kit, and plenty of gloss black trim. Like with the Vauxhall Astra and Grandland GSe, the Corsa GSe is also expected to get a contrasting roof and the luminous yellow ‘GSe’ badging.
What does GSe stand for?
Vauxhall and Opel’s GSe nameplate stands for Grand Sport Einspritzung, meaning Grand Sport Injection in German. Sister company Opel used this acronym on cars such as the Monza GSe and Commodore GSe back in the seventies and eighties, and more recently both brands have used the ‘GSe’ badging for sporty plug-in hybrid versions of the Astra and Vauxhall, effectively replacing the hot-hatch VXR branding used for the British brand’s sporty models from before.
So what’s different about the Vauxhall Corsa GSe?
In a bold move, the Vauxhall Corsa GSe will be all-electric, and is expected to use the same 154bhp electric motor setup as the standard Corsa Electric, foregoing extra horsepower in favour of improved handling and agility.
This time around, Vauxhall’s aim is to make the standard Corsa Electric more fun to drive, fitting it with stiffer springs, lowering the ride height and recalibrating the steering.
How much will the Vauxhall Corsa GSe cost?
The Vauxhall Corsa GSe will sit at the top of the Corsa Electric range, so with the standard car costing £38,585 in current flagship Ultimate trim, we can expect a price tag of over £40,000 for the GSe when it arrives in 2024.
