Genesis reveals UK pricing for G70 saloon
New luxury G70 saloon will join the Shooting Brake in the UK later in 2021
Hot on the heels of the launch of the G80 and GV80 in June, Genesis has confirmed that its G70 luxury saloon will come to the UK, with orders opening from 1 September onwards priced from £33,850. It follows the launch of the G70 Shooting Brake last month, which will go on sale shortly after the saloon.
2021 Genesis G70 design
Both the G70 saloon and G70 Shooting Brake feature a sleek design and get the brand’s signature quadruple LED headlights, which sit either side of the large front grille and lower air intakes.
The Shooting Brake has a wraparound roof spoiler at the rear, with a quad LED tail-light arrangement running from the rear quarter panel into the tailgate. Beneath this, a large pair of integrated exhausts sit above a rear diffuser.
While the overall dimensions of the estate are identical to those of the G70 saloon, Genesis claims the extended roofline boosts boot space by 40% over the saloon. Seats that fold in a 40/20/40 split add to the car’s practicality.
Interior and technology
The G70's interior features quilted leather-trimmed seats, matching dashboard trim inserts and rotary dials and switches finished in aluminium. The onboard technology is also likely to be identical to the saloon’s, with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone charging and a 360-degree camera all fitted as standard.
A range of driver assistance systems will also feature, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The two cars will be available in three trim levels: Premium Line, Luxury Line and Sport Line. The range-topping G70 saloon Sport Line is priced at £40,480.
Engines and performance
Like the G80 and GV80, the G70 range will be equipped with a host of driver aids, safety systems and in-car technology as standard, although full specifications are yet to be revealed. Genesis has confirmed there will be a choice of two engines: a 2.2-litre diesel with 199bhp and a 2.0-litre T petrol offering 251bhp, both sending power to the rear wheels and fitted with an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
Customers will be able to purchase their Genesis cars online or from ‘Genesis Studios’ based in London, Munich and Zurich, where customers will be appointed a Genesis Personal Assistant.
Order books for the Genesis G80 saloon and GV80 SUV are already open, with G70 saloon orders being taken on 1 September. The car maker has confirmed that the G70 Shooting Brake will follow shortly after, with an electric G80 set to arrive later this year as part of the brand’s plan to introduce three all-electric vehicles to its range before the year is out.
