New Genesis G70 Shooting Brake now on sale in the UK

Prices have been revealed for Genesis’ stylish estate car, kicking off at £35,250

Hot on the heels of the launch of the Electrified GV70 SUV, the new Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is now on sale in the UK. Prices start from £35,250; £1400 more than the equivalent G70 saloon, which is already on sale.

The new model from the Korean luxury brand will be a direct rival to the Audi A4 Avant, BMW 3 Series Touring and Mercedes C-Class Estate.

Both the G70 Shooting Brake and its saloon counterpart feature a sleek design and get the brand’s signature quadruple LED headlights, which sit either side of the large front grille and lower air intakes.

The Shooting Brake has a wraparound roof spoiler at the rear, with a quad LED tail-light arrangement running from the rear quarter panel into the tailgate. Beneath this, a large pair of integrated exhausts sits above a rear diffuser.

While the overall dimensions of the estate are identical to those of the G70 saloon, Genesis claims the extended roofline boosts boot space by 40%. Seats that fold in a 40/20/40 split add to the car’s practicality.

Interior and technology

The G70's interior features quilted leather-trimmed seats, matching dashboard trim inserts and rotary dials and switches finished in aluminium. The onboard technology is also likely to be identical to the saloon’s, with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone charging and a 360-degree camera all fitted as standard.

A range of driver assistance systems will also feature, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The two cars will be available in three trim levels: Premium Line, Luxury Line and Sport Line. The range-topping G70 Shooting Brake Sport Line is priced at £41,430.

Engines and performance

Like the G80 and GV80, the G70 range will be equipped with a host of driver aids, safety systems and in-car technology as standard, although full specifications are yet to be revealed. Genesis has confirmed there will be a choice of two engines: a 2.2-litre diesel with 199bhp and a 2.0-litre T petrol offering 251bhp, both sending power to the rear wheels and fitted with an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

Order books for both the G70 Shooting Brake and G70 saloon are now open. Genesis states that the Shooting Brake has been specifically designed for the European market and represents the brand’s push to break into the German-dominated luxury car market. While the G70 has not been provided with an electric powertrain at launch, one may come available in the coming years due to the manufacturer’s recent pledge to have all models electrified by 2025.

Customers can purchase their Genesis cars online or from ‘Genesis Studios’ based in London, Munich and Zurich, where customers will be appointed a Genesis Personal Assistant.
