I have owned Audis, BMWs and VWs and must admit that my Honda Civic is such an easy car to live with day to day. I just want a reliable workhorse and the Civic delivers this effortlessly. The automatic gearbox is very smooth and I can hardly hear the engine at idle. The engine is noisy when accelerating on motorways but easily eats the miles safely. Good spec for the price compared to German rivals. I am keeping my Honda Civic as it is a reliable and easy to live with practical car.

Traded in an 07 Civivc 1.8 manual for this. Old one 100% reliable. Very smooth to drive, better for passengers. Handles well and suspension settled and smooth, where old one was bit jittery. Surprisingly fuel consumption is exactly the same as old manual, yet it gets better out of torque. Even better to polish and to my eyes, look at!

2nd Civic replacing a 2.2 CDI. More sturdy and better built than previous 2.2 CDI which had similar economy of 78 mph . 1.6 underpowered but adequate once you learn how it's to be driven. Paintwork of better thickness than the previous model which had atrocious paint which Honda refused to accept. Unlike other owners stop start system works well. No other issues except the air con no longer cools. Another hidden Honda fault. Bought because car is made in Britain and compared to all my German built cars is reliable. Pity Honda customer service is not good. Styling a bit strange and unexciting but not as hideous as the MB banana shaped cars

Well equipped, good satnav and reversing camera, slick gearbox and comfortable to drive long distances. Huge boot. But 1.8 engine is sluggish, runs out of puff too easily, has plenty of flat spots and lacks any torque. To get anywhere on fast roads you have to accelerate to 4000–5000+ revs and use the gears. Fuel consumption started at 32mpg when I got the car at 20,000 miles but is now over 40mpg using only high detergent Shell and BP, despite driving at high revs. Oil consumption is 1 litre per 4,000 miles, which is usual for this engine. The engine is crying out for a turbo or supercharger or 50hp more.

Have had this car for just over a year engine is responsive but thirsty build quality is o.k rear suspension leaves a lot to be desired and is a down grade from my old x reg Honda which had independent rear suspension the current version has a fixed beam and does not allow for any adjustments, the rear of the car feels skittish in the rain and i am dreading having to drive it in snow.

Brilliant car. Sat Nav. Leather seats. Cruise. Rear Camera. HDD stereo with great sound! Parking sensors (although not needed after you know the car). Loads of nice touches. Voice recognition is very good. Gearbox AMAZING! Very good mpg. TAX exempt. Had 66mpg on motorway at "85 ;)" I would say the steering feedback is a little numb but it's certainly very capable on the twisty roads. Lots of torque for a small engine. Soooo much better than my BMW 118d that spent most of it's time on the hard shoulder. The seating position isn't for all so test drive recommended. Loads of space. Magic rear seats are awesome. The Earth Dreams 1.6 idtec engine is just an absolute masterpiece.

165,000 trouble-free miles and still going strong. Switched over to Pagid brake discs and pads due to the Honda ones wearing out too quickly. This car has proved itself to be extremely reliable on my daily 100-mile plus round trip to work and the miracle seats have proved useful when transporting larger objects which would normally have required an estate.

Fantastic. I have been driving for 40 years and have owned most makes. I have to say that this is the best, "all round" car I have ever owned. Yes there are compromises, but there are with every car. The blend of comfort, quality, style and driving enjoyment would be hard to beat.

Most of these Civic reviews are over 10 years old and not relevant to the latest model. Mine is a fleet car obtained in September 2012 and has been absolutely brilliant. Never had a problem with it and never been back to the dealers apart from servicing. I do mostly motorway driving and never get less the 64 mpg. I have actually had 72 and once got 81 with pictures of the dash display to prove it. Visibility has never been a problem f you get the driving seat at the right height. This is my 3rd Honda and I have had very few problems with any of them and my Dealer, Swansway Rochdale is superb. Can't wait to try the new HRV.

The stop/start system is faulty across the honda range, yet they still advertise it as a big thing on their new cars. They have had nearly two years to fix mine but still have no idea how to. I have even been as high as UK managing director but still can not fix the problem. BEWARE they took my £20,000 and do not want to know. Remember the problem is across the Honda range and they have no fix for it.
