Skoda Scala hatchback - Reliability & safety
VW Group's proven reliability, and a five star safety rating
Few family hatchbacks score badly on the Euro NCAP safety test, and the Skoda Scala has got the full five stars. It’s backed up by the might of the VW Group, and all current VW and Skoda models are five-star cars.
Skodas tend to do very well in the reliability stakes, too - many owners rave about their cars, and it’s part of the reason why Skoda has enjoyed such popularity in recent years. There’s no reason to expect the Scala not to uphold the manufacturer’s reputation.
Skoda Scala reliability
The latest Driver Power survey shows Skoda in a shining light. Out of 75 cars, the last-generation Octavia came 34th, the Karoq came 15th and the Superb and Kodiaq were both in the top 10. In terms of reliability, 17.2% of Skoda owners reported problems, and the company finished very well in the Driver Power list of brands, too. It came fifth out of 30 manufacturers (for the second year running), which is very respectable indeed.
Safety
All other VW Group cars were rated the top score by Euro NCAP, and it’s reassuring that the Skoda Scala follows suit. It features a range of systems designed to stop you having a crash, such as automatic city braking and lane-keep assist, and offers many airbags and automatic emergency services contact if you do have a collision. You can order extra features like adaptive cruise control and rear cross-traffic alert from the options list.
