I think this is a dreadful car. Its thick door pillars block the view, the boot is too small, it has poor acceleration away from junctions and the heater is dreadful. The brakes always feel soft, too. The DAB radio signal keeps dropping off, too, although may be more to do with the coverage. It's only saving grace is that I got the balance of its five year warranty.

I purchased a top of the range Excel spec Auris 1.4d & honestly it's hard to find any fault. It's mainly used for long distance business trips 150-300 miles & I will do 2000 miles or more a month. Car is very reliable and has a 5-year 100k warranty. Since purchasing I've put about 70k miles on it but driven with care & serviced every 10k miles. Had usual wear & tear brakes replaced after about 60k 3 new tyres. Front lights are expensive had to replace 2 at £40 each but that's the only shock. It's very practical with fold flat rear. This one also has the dual level boot to hide valuables away. Easily converts into estate. I'm tall (6'2") so tend to have the seats all the way back, not a lot of space as a rear passenger. The seats are excellent, this one full leather easy to clean & heated. It's very easy to park with a rear-view camera, also has front & rear parking sensors. This one also has self parking -I've used it once, you drive next to a parked car and it tells you to drive forward then takes over the steering. It's not the kind of thing I would want to use in London, Birmingham, Glasgow but it's very cool. The 1.4d engine is great, not a lot of power but the car is very light. It's happy 50-70 although it has 6 speed gearbox I get better fuel economy in 5th, it will happily give 62 on a typical A / M road. Fuel economy will drop if you drive hard or have all the electronics on e.g. air conditioning. I also have a Thule roof rack easy to fit so we can take the bikes also. A++++++. I love my Auris.

Not the first Toyota I’ve owned but definitely the worst one. The gear change is extremely sticky and notchy. The brakes are terrible, had to change the front discs and pads after 6 months as it became difficult to stop. The handbrake had to be adjusted to its maximum, too. It has a really noisy Diesel engine and no feel to the clutch biting point. The suspension is rock hard and you get a rough ride over any surface. I Can’t wait to get rid of this car

We bought this car for its specs - narrow body to fit narrow roads and parking lots, reasonable acceleration, comfy suspension, low noise and we wanted an automatic transmission. So far, it meets all those points except for a fairly large turning radius, which could be much better (same size VW Golf is better at this). We chose the Hybrid for no economically justifiable reason - it was a geek's choice as Teslas and plugins were out of budget (no tax in my country that would justify the choice over a non-hybrid). So far so good. Then after driving it for some time, annoying little details started to accumulate: - sensors refuse to work on 15% of winter drives and give error messages every few meters along with a constantly flashing orange warning light - parking assistance parks the car rather far from curb - really just for people who can't do without - speedometer shows 9% higher speed than real, but this is the case in other brands as well - eco-mode allows only minimal heating, but standard automatic mode doesn't heat from the central console either - this has to be adjusted manually - seat heating can be switched between off, very hot and ridiculously hot - the SW that is supposed to allow phone screen mirroring onto the central screen is not working - my guess is this was a way to make sure you pay that ridiculous price for a navigation from Toyota - the volume controls on the touch screen are a pain to use on bumpy roads (would prefer a knob)

The car is very quiet, and the engine is just perfect. Low revs, low noise. It has a nice torque at low rpm. The CVT takes a while to handle. It's not a gearbox to push hard, just take it easy and spend a extra 2 sec. when accelerating. The gearbox can be controlled manually, but I only do it driving down hills to get a bit of engine braking. How ever, when driving in cold conditions, the gearbox select very low gears at first, so it heats up faster. The means high revs on cold engine and a awfull fuel economy for the first 3-5 miles.

In mixed and generally light-footed driving, the Auris Hybrid consistently has been returning 50mpg (measured from the trip and the volume of petrol put in to fill up). The car's electronics seem optimistic and generally records an average 53-55mpg overall.

Superb all rounder! I needed to get rid of my Hyundai Coupe in favour of a "family car" and looked at: Ford Focus, Hyundai i30 and Vauxhall Astra. I also considered the BMW 1 Series. The Focus is too common, there are too many police i30s about, mechanic friends warned me off the Astra, the Vectra was too expensive (unless I wanted an older model) and the BMW was too small and the harsh ride due to run flats was not ideal. OK, so there are quite a few OAPs driving the hybrids, but if you can get over that you'll find nothing that's as enjoyable to drive, roomy for 5 adult passengers and luggage, yet ideal to park. The car really hits a "sweet spot" and I think it looks and drives great. I also de-badged the back ("Auris" is a stupid name) and put on some low profile alloys. My basic model did not come with the toys but for £9,000 at less than a year old I don't care.

This car was initially sold to me as an automatic, which it was not. It has an electronic gearbox, which from the onset was extremely sluggish at low speed. A few months ago, the gears started slipping dangerously from the drive to neutral position and cutting out. Toyota are unhelpful and uninterested in so far as the £2,150 it cost me to repair. I have established that this is a 'well known' problem with MMT gearboxes but Toyota do not want to know. The parts are only guaranteed for one year as well! My car is currently awaiting another 'recall inspection', this time to do with possible oil leaking into the combustion chamber. The first one was when I just bought it and it had an 'acceleration' problem and the brakes had to be replaced as well. All in all an extremely expensive mistake. This car has not lived up to Toyota's pledge of durability and reliability. I would never ever consider buying from them again.

I am extremely disappointed in this car, I bought it earlier this year (January). It took a bit of getting used to as I also have a 4x4 and was looking for a smaller car to run about town with, shops etc. It lost power steering, took in to electrical car repair garage, now being quoted £375 plus vat for the part alone, plus the labour will be hefty as they need to remove loads of other parts to install it. Reckon account will be around £700. Cost of part extortionate.

I bought this car new, with a hefty discount from a wholesaler - I would never have paid the silly list price for it. Overall, a very economical and efficient car - perfect for commuting and driving at a leisurely pace along country roads. The handling is good, very easy to drive and the rear reversing camera is priceless. It's a bit noisy when pushed on the motorway, but cruises effortlessly at 75-80mph; idiots who like to race at 100mph + will need to look elsewhere. I am getting a consistent 55mpg from mixed driving, mainly on A roads and I could not expect anything better. You will not get better mpg from any petrol car, and with this car you also get zero road tax and a low insurance group. This car also makes sense for drivers who look for reliability - in the first seven months of ownership the car has performed flawlessly.

In one word Horrible, This was the second faulty low mileage 2012 Toyota Auris from Jemca Toyota Bromley, this one was pulling away on its own when the engine kicked in from sitting in electric, apparently this is sometimes normal says Toyota GB, they said Keep your handbrake on at all times 5 or 6 clicks then it wont happen, Horrible car and horrible experience with Toyota GB, sold the car now never again.

We had the Toyota Auris Hybrid 2012 with 9000 miles on the clock when we bought it for £14000 from Jemca Toyota Bromley, the first Auris Hybrid we had we demanded it was changed by the garage as it kept pulling to the left, the second replacement Auris Hybrid we got had to have a new steering column, and was backward and forwards to the garage Jemca because when the engine came on when on and stationary, the car moved forward a foot on its own, this was checked by the garage who said this is normal, obviously not normal Toyota GB checked it as well and said when the engine kicks in when in electric mode, the car will try to move forward so be aware and they said always use the handbrake, we was sick of arguing with them so we traded it in not at Jemca Bromley, we will never go near that garage again a horrible experience, we traded in for a Mazda 3 just what we had before and it is brilliant, sorry before i go forgot to mention if you like a good heater in a car don't buy the Toyota Auris Hybrid or a Hybrid in fact, because they use electric most of the time the heater is starved and it's freezing, cant think of anything good to say really except you get a few more miles per gallon,

Car a bit underpowered, but what do you expect from a large - ish 1.3 Litre. Found mpg pretty good at around 47mpg. To drive, it is a bit bland, but the air-conditioning on my journey to work is excellent, cool in the Summer, warm in the Winter. It has been cheap to service & reliable.

In the past year I have had to have a new DPF due to excess Soot build up - the car has only done 40,000 miles and the cost was excessive. Also needed a new water pump and several recalls. Also, broke down as power steering unit stopped working and unable to turn wheel. RAC called and attended and update car computer system on site and made it work again. All very annoying.
