All-new MINI Countryman for £280 a month: Hot car deal

Our hot car deal for May 16th is the new MINI Countryman for just £280 per month

MINI Countryman front quarter

The new MINI Countryman has only just landed in UK showrooms, but we’ve already spotted an affordable lease deal that offers great value compared to other premium small SUVs.

Now in its third generation, the latest Countryman has grown significantly, offering space for five and taking up a larger footprint than the Range Rover Evoque. Some may see that as ironic given the badge on the bonnet, but we think it makes the Countryman more appealing than ever to family car buyers, serving as a stylish alternative to the likes of the Mercedes GLA and Volvo XC40 – especially at this price.

What’s so good about this MINI Countryman deal?

This two-year deal from iCar Lease stands out with its relatively low payments of just £280 per month, a tempting figure when compared to rivals. For example, a typical Volvo XC40 deal is likely to cost you closer to £400 per month, while the most affordable BMW X1 deal we found came in at £420.

The deal requires a rather large upfront payment of £3,364.68, but this can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the monthly payments, as with most leasing deals. The same goes for the mileage limit; if you want to increase the 5,000-mile per year limit of this deal, you can do so by paying slightly more each month and upfront. Doubling the mileage limit to 10,000 miles will cost you £308.03 per month and £3,696.36 upfront.

MINI Countryman interior

The Countryman in this deal is the entry-level C Classic trim, with a three-cylinder 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine. It may be the cheapest model in the Countryman lineup but don’t be disheartened; it still comes with a high-quality interior, complete with a large 9.4-inch circular infotainment display, along with LED headlights, a rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel and more. The engine puts out a respectable 168bhp through a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while fuel economy stands at an impressive 47.1mpg.

What’s so good about the MINI Countryman?

We like the MINI Countryman because it takes the fairly mundane family SUV formula and throws in a bit of fun. It strikes a great balance between everyday comfort and driving dynamics, something that can’t be said for many cars in this class, while the circular infotainment screen and chunky looks provide a unique sense of style. One of our only gripes is its high price point, which is something you won’t have to worry about with this lease deal.

Anything else I need to know about this deal?

This is a lease deal, often referred to as Personal Contract Hire (PCH), so there’s no option to buy the car at the end of the contract. You are effectively renting the car for the two-year term, but the deal is very flexible so you can adjust the term length, mileage limit and initial payment size to suit, but only at the outset. Once the deal is over, you just hand the keys back and start looking for your next car.

Our hot deals are carefully selected by our car buying experts and they are all subject to change. Always read the full terms and conditions and make sure the car and the deal suits your needs before proceeding.
