Ive had this car from new and apart from the usual, new battery, clutch at 95,000 miles, brake pads front, and bearing whine on first and second gears, the car has performed very well, i have now completed 100,264 miles and ive booked it in for a gearbox bearing repair. The car is quite roomy inside, the parcel shelf had no string attached but i fitted one myself and it works ok, the rear seats are split so when folded you have two configurations.

My second car as a 19 year old. 700 quid a year fully comp insurance with a year's no claims. Had a few problems one with my auxiliary belt snapping 3 in the space of 2 months. Main dealer useless to help. Parts are good price however dealerships hard to find for manufacturer parts. Gearbox needing replacement along with other people's reviews due to differential in the gearbox. Bloody quick. Have 17 inch 'attitude' wheels that are £220 each to replace. Great car great handling and great fuel economy. I'm happy and even though I drive it hard it gives the thrill and comfort that younger people look for!

Overall a fine little car that's good looking, not thirsty, economical and fast enough. Problems: diesel engine a bit too noisy in cold weather and regular services not as economical as expexted.

This is a great little car that can seat 5 at a pinch. Quite running the only real design problem is the boot. It is too small. Also had random starting problems. Sometime turn the key and nothing happens! Then after several attempts it starts.

Reliability problems: I killed the original battery by commuting a round trip of <3 miles to & from work for about three years. The car was subject to a couple of recalls for insufficiently waterproof boot carpet lining or somesuch (!) The central locking failed within the warranty period and was replaced: the collecting breakdown service people managed to break the rear parcel shelf. The front nearside lower wishbone was replaced at MoT after its rubber bush failed owing to pothole damage. The bonnet is highly susceptible to stone chips. The rear window washer does not squirt at the first turn of the switch BUT does leak water in response to firm use of the accelerator. Interior plastic trim behind handbrake lever lifts up and detaches when handbrake applied on all examples of this model. Gearbox was replaced by dealer under warranty, on their initiative and at no cost to me for an 'upgraded' oem one with supposedly better engagement of reverse gear - it feels the same to me.

As a nippy, fun alternative to the mini cooper, the swift sport has lived up to my expectations. It's a car with character and is a lot of fun to drive, if not the fastest hatchback out there. The dashboard is a little rattly and the driver's seat creaky (a common problem according to the forums) but it is a car that you look forward to driving for the sheer fun of it. Real world mpg of 34 is somewhat down on the official figure of 39.9 mpg (itself quite a poor figure for a small hatchback).

A great little car. Had niggle with the pas pump, this was replaced under warranty. Have now covered 13000 miles. Servicing hurts abit as it has to be done every 9k miles but i knew this before i bought it. Nothing is faster than this pocket rocket in wales as i found out. Its the most fun to drive (before this i had a mighty audi s2)!

Bargain warm hatch, but if suzuki had just spent a little more on tailoring the sport to their target market then we would easily have a car to rival the fiesta st and mini cooper in terms of refinement and build quality and overall fit and finish.

Attractive, nippy, lots of character, reliable, good performance and economy when driven well. Not so comfortable on long journeys but great around town. Not a lot of room but maximises on what it does have. Still looks modern despite the model being 5 - 6 years old now and handles pretty well too.

The suzuki swift sport is a cracking small car, drives and handles superbly for a car of its size, could do with a few more horses under the bonnet and an lsd. The gearbox has a decent mechanical shift to it, unlike other cars in its class i tested, acceleration is good for a 1.6 and the misses can park it! Boot space is small but i don't really need one at the moment, good enough for the shopping run, and the seats fold flat giving more room if needed.

Comfortable, but the suspension could be better. It's easy to drive, with good handling and brakes, lots of equipment (SZ4 model), great economy and no road tax as yet (under 99g/km). It has a small boot but 60/40 rear seat folding and a large tailgate boosts practicality.
What's the one thing you like most about your car?
Very frugal

This car doesnt get enough praise or recognition. I got an amazing deal on mine including 0 per cent finance. The mpg is fantastic if you drive well and economically and have had 58 to 60mpg every time I've reset the MPG trip. It's got Sat Nav, cruise control, leather sports steering wheel and gear knob. The engine has got to be one of the smoothest and quietest in the universe! 94 hp becomes apparent at sort of 3000 onwards and it's quite a step up in performance probably down the VVT. there's some useful power there, the engine starts to sound quite angry and it's great for overtaking other road users in inferior cars ;) The car has run faultlessly (I've had the car for 3-4 months and had done 2500ish miles) and I imagine it will run faultlessly for a very long time.

This is my third Swift - I really rate them - and I bought all three VAT-free, which saved me about £2,500 each time. It's a good little car - comfortable and reliable (the latest only let me down once when I had had it less than a hour due to a flat battery. The AA towed me back to the main dealer for a replacement battery. Apart from that the tyre pressure warning light keeps on illuminating.

Very good first car. Powerful enough compared to other cars of similar price/size but still underpowered compared to most other cars on the road. The 1.3 litre engine needs to be revved to get the best out of it but once the most is being made of it, it is reasonably fast its size. Handling is superb but his has caused the ride to be somewhat compromised with bumps often crashing through the cabin. The car responds and is at its best when being driven hard due to the chassis and engines sporty nature. Inside the cabin is simple but nicely finished and for the price it is a very pleasant place to be and there is good passenger space in the rear. This however means the boot space is quite small and the boot opening is an irritating shape which means loading can be difficult. All in all a very good car and i would definitely recommend to a friend, especially for the price.

Really good, excellent for a little car that's done more miles than it was probably designed for. Good fun to drive with decent fuel economy for petrol engine. Not that common a site. Down sides are really short service interval (9000 miles), low density of suzuki dealers and main dealer servicing has always been expensive always £200+, making it more expesive to maintain than much bigger cards with 15-20,000 mile service intervals.

Well what's to say. I sat in the car at the showroom and immediately felt as if I had been driving one for years. I think it was the sit upright stance and the excellent visibility. I didn't feel I was wallowing in the thing as I had in other similar hatchbacks I had tried. Also, I quite liked the quirky shape .. the Swift stands out in what is otherwise a very drab market place for hatchbacks. Some commentators have complained that the car is noisy but I haven't found that. What I have found is that the engine has been so detuned that it's like driving a sponge .. still the other side of that is the very good fuel consumption. Much better than my 1.2 Polo. However, there's no getting away from it, the Swift feels tinny compared to the Polo but you get what you pay for and the specification in the swift far exceeded the new Polo model that cost about £5000 more. So it's a mixed bag .. would I buy another Swift .. well on balance yes I would but next time I'd go for a nearly new one ..

For the money it is very good value, auto air conditioning, keyless entry etc.Performance And handling good but the suspension is firm, ido not mind this but passengers are shaken around a bit.Economy Is not up to 2010 standards but as i only cover a small yearly mileage this is not a great concern. The Car is reliable, goes well but it is not a maserati.

Overall a great little car. I owned the previous model (2007 GL) before buying this and the improvement in interior quality and drive is noticeable. I have had no issues with dashboard rattles or seat squeaks and the noise insulation is miles better. I had a problem with one of the front wheels squeaking loudly after about 15000 miles, but this was remedied with replacement front brake pads which were done under warranty. The boot, although not vast is enough for a weekly shop, which should satisfy most buyers of the car. However, there are numerous drawbacks with the boot arrangement which people should be aware of before purchasing the car. The lip is even higher than on the old model, and the parcel shelf has no string to lift it up with the tailgate. You have to manually lift up the parcel shelf every time you want to put something in the boot, as the aperture between the parcel shelf and the lip is tiny. If you forget to put the parcel shelf down again after loading the boot, it completely blocks visibility out of the rear windscreen! It would have cost Suzuki about 3 pence to add a piece of string to the car, with great benefit as a result. It seems a bit mean of Suzuki to skimp on something like this - the car retails for over £10k new! Also, the rear seats don't do anything clever when folded. In the old model you could tumble them forward against the front seats to create a flat load bay, but now they just flop onto the bases and don't create much extra space as a result! Apart from that, I'm happy from my purchase :)

Car is excellent for a small car, suprisingly bigger on the inside than outside, i have had comments like its a hair dressers car, i say its not big enough for a pair of tongs nevermind a hair dryer. but once they have driven it they soon change their minds Stoneacre (car retailer) was the problem, bought the car on 1st april 2009 and what a joke they have been.
