Reliability & safety Rating

4.0 out of 5

The Hyundai Ioniq performs very strongly for customer feedback, and its safety credentials are unimpeachable.

Hyundai Ioniq reliability

The Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid came ninth out of the top 75 models in our 2020 Driver Power owner satisfaction survey, which is a great result. It scored highly for reliability and build quality, with only 8.2% of owners telling us they experienced one or more faults within the first year, mostly related to the electrics, engine or gearbox. Buyers loved the car’s low running costs, helped by cheap servicing and maintenance.

Safety

The Ioniq is a very safe car. Despite test criteria being made increasingly stringent, it scored the full five stars when assessed by Euro NCAP. All Ioniqs sold in the UK include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, seven airbags, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning and rear cross-traffic alert, which makes reversing safer.
